| Situated in Co. Galway, in the west of Ireland, this early 19th century former hunting lodge was built by the Daly family of Dunsandle. George Daly, son of Lord Dunsandle Daly, converted his house for his mistress, Mary Broadwell, the daughter of a shepherd, and their 12 children. On the death of his father, he married Mary and had two legitimate children, a son and daughter. This son died, and one of his half-brothers, who had done well for himself in England, successfully won a lawsuit to retain the family title. The house stands on circa 78 acres and is approached by a tree-lined avenue, the house is surrounded by well planted grounds which include a fine rose garden, orchard, lake and a mini golf course. |
